If you’ve never heard of Industrial Management, it’s about time you did.
The name tells you a lot about the work. What we do is manage the use of U.S. government property by Department of Defense contractors. Let’s say a DoD contractor needs access to equipment the government can provide. As an Industrial Property Management Specialist, you’d be responsible for oversight and control of that equipment.
IPM Specialists manage thousands of items. Some are sophisticated testing devices, put in place at a contractor’s facility to see that a component meets the standards laid down by a contract. Or it might be a component that’s part of a larger system–a prototype GPS from one contractor incorporated into another’s new vehicle. It might even be something of a sensitive nature, such as a highly classified component.
As an IPM Specialist, you work primarily for the government. But you also play a key role in helping contractors meet their commitments. By bringing both sides together, you’re a crucial part of what it takes to get the best equipment to our war fighters.
