Life InsuranceCreated by the Federal Government, the Federal Employees’ Group Life Insurance (FEGLI) Program is the largest group life insurance program in the world, covering over four million Federal employees and many family members. Most Federal civilian employees (including DCMA employees) are eligible to enroll in the program. FEGLI provides basic group term life insurance. With it you get basic life, but it does not build up any cash value. Cost is shared between you and the government, with the government paying one-third of the total cost. Claims are processed and paid by the Office of Federal Employees’ Group Life Insurance (OFEGLI), a private entity that has a contract with the Federal Government.
